Week 13: Dallas Cowboys at Arizona Cardinals

DALLAS COWBOYS @ ARIZONA CARDINALS

Vegas Line: Cardinals + 4.5

Rob’s Line: Cardinals + 5.5

There looked to be a good chance that Arizona quarterback Kevin Kolb would return from injury this week to face Dallas, but he’s been declared inactive, which means that John Skelton get the start again. However he’s been horrible the past two weeks, throwing for zero touchdowns and five interceptions and against the 49ers two weeks ago he finished with a quarterback rating of 10.5. He was better last week versus the Rams, but only slightly.

Running the ball seemed to work a lot better last Sunday and Beanie Wells set a franchise record with 228 yards on 27 carries (1 TD), but that aside it’s been a poor season for him, although he has been slowed by injuries. Dallas ranks 10th defending the run, allowing 100 yards per game so I fully expect Wells to revert back to the form he showed prior to last week.
The Cowboys are on a four game winning streak, but their last two wins have come via the back door as they squeaked past Washington in overtime and overcame Miami by a point on Thanksgiving, kicking the winning field goal as time expired. Having looked impressive before that, it’s difficult to gauge their form, but my take on it is that both the Redskins and Dolphins are currently playing good football, particularly Miami.
Dallas is by far the superior team, but, like Cleveland at home to Baltimore today, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the Cardinals come away with the W. It’s a nagging doubt I have with the Cowboys and their fans would tell you that of their past seven visits to Arizona, they’ve lost six. Some teams just plain don’t like playing in some cities and it’s an intangible I’m definitely taking into consideration as I tell you that I’m taking the Cardinals with the points, despite Skelton at QB.
