Week 13: New York Jets at Washington Redskins

NEW YORK JETS @ WASHINGTON REDSKINS
Vegas Line: Redskins + 3

Rob’s Line: Jets + 2.5

How do I even attempt to make sense of this? I had to double and triple check this to make sure that I hadn’t misread the Vegas spread. I’ll try to explain my reasonings for this, but there’s no way I’m steering away from backing Washington plus a field goal, which is value beyond belief. OK, where to start?

The Redskins have played well over the past two weeks, losing to Dallas in overtime and then making a mockery of travelling across the country to win in Seattle against a Seahawks team going through a mini revival. The Jets won a classic AFC East contest at home to Buffalo last week, but prior to that had lost to New England and Denver. POINT TO WASHINGTON.
Maybe Vegas are thinking that Washington’s had to travel too much within a few days, but they’ve had the comforts of home this week and the Jets aren’t the best travellers themselves, going 1-4 on the road this season and covering the spread just once in that sequence. POINT TO WASHINGTON.
The Jet losses to the Patriots and Broncos came against defenses ranked in the bottom half of the league and in the case of New England, dead last in the NFL. The Redskins possess the league’s 11th ranked defense and have sacked QBs 33 times this season, tied for third in the NFL. POINT TO WASHINGTON.
Should you wish to bet on the Jets minus a field goal, I make that an extremely brave move. Yes, you may read the above and totally disagree with me, but I love the Redskins…in case you hadn’t noticed.
